I first went along to UWT because I thought it would be a good reintroduction to physical activity after a couple of weeks off. I assumed it would be fairly straight forward for me because I train and do gym based work on a daily basis for my job. My wife and her friend also go to this and love it, but as they’re not professional athletes I was thinking ‘how hard can it be?’


Wow was I wrong! After the warm up in my first session I had to sit in the shade and compose myself. I ended up completing the session but was disappointed in myself at how hard I found it.

I wouldn’t let it beat me, and even though I was hurting for days afterwards I decided to go again. It was a different trainer and all the exercises were completely different and trained me in a different way once more. Again, I was aching for days.

After a few more sessions and countless different exercises I felt fitter, stronger and confident going back in to work and ready for pre season.

I’m very impressed by the trainers at their variety of exercises and their ability to motivate many different people at all sorts of levels of ability.

I didn’t think this would be possible in a group environment but they have the balance perfectly. They seem to spend the same amount of time moving round the stations and helping and encouraging each individual. The group environment also encourages you to meet new people and to push yourself in front of others.

I would highly recommend UWT and I intend to be back at some point and be put through my paces again.
